Target Audience
The target audience for this will range from ages 15-65 with no specific gender. It is geared toward those who are interested in skiing and winter sports in general. Although most skiers tend to try skiing for the first time around age 10 or younger, it is not until they are older where they take it more seriously. Those who are older have the time and money to spend and have more experience in the ski industry.
Research
Due to this company already existing, this made the research process very easy. Along with that, I have used Atomic Skis for a large portion of my life, so I am already familiar with the brand. I began by starting with the basic research which was confirming where they were based and what else they produced other than skis. I also researched their “about” section on their website which told how the company got started and how successful it is today.
Next was age demographic of people who consistently use skis. This helped me narrow down what I wanted my age range to be to target the correct audience. It helped me better understand that people who have been skiing longer know the ski industry better than those who have been skiing for a short time. The last thing to be researched was types of ski design styles. I went back and forth a lot about what I wanted to do, but eventually narrowed it down to my final design. The idea was to have 3 pairs of skis, where each pair created a full image when put next to each other.
The Process
Logo
When starting the rebrand, the first thing that needed to be done was find the right font. After going through many different versions, I finally established on a very curvilinear font named “Daisys”. Ski logos usually end up being very blocky, so I wanted to do something different.
Finalizing
Once the font was picked, I then worked on finding the perfect way of setting it. I added movement lined to it and gave it three different color concepts. I also created a graphic using the letter A from the logo.
Booklet
After finalizing the logo, I next moved on to creating a booklet, advertising the brand. Inside it showcases skis, apparel, and equipment. I also used this to advertise more info about the company in general.
Website
Creating a website was something that was crucial to this rebrand. I gave the option of browsing skis, equipment, and apparel. There is also the ability to click on my skis I designed and add them to your cart as well. If you want to view the site, click here.
Skis
The last part of the rebrand was designing my own skis. I created 3 different pairs that all had a similar style. I wanted to do a day, evening, and night look from the start. The designs I created have two images on each of them. The image on top has a gradient that transitions into the bottom image. When putting the two skis together, it then creates one large image as well.
